Pants OFF Dance OFF (PODO) is a monthly clothing-optional dance party which currently occurs on the first Saturday of every month for more than 5 years!
The concept was born from a lack of true body-positive events, or too many geared at specific labels/types. In Portland, nudity is legal in public and in businesses, and we wanted to combine the two into a fun event that featured dancing, go-go dancers, photobooth, great DJ music... and nudity! Initially started as a World Naked Bike Ride afterparty in 2012, it was realized that the unique-to-Portland combination of lack of public nudity laws and dance party were a special niche that interested lots of people! We existed as a monthly event starting in 2013 for 4 years at Crush in inner SE, and outgrew the venue in June 2018; after which we grew substantially after moving to The Tonic Lounge, where our attendance roughly tripled, until our final event in August 2019 after which, the Tonic will be closing for demolition.
Event currently has a $10 cover charge, which includes a complimentary clothes check for patrons and current attendance averages between 250-300 people from 9pm - 2am each event.
Event currently costs venue nothing: producer covers all event staff expenses (DJ, photobooth, go-go dancers, and floor supervisors - at a total cost to producer of ~$750)
Producer designs and prints promotional materials and only asks that the venue add to their calendar(s), and do their own regular online/social networking promotion.

More about PODO
- The party is:
- Clothing optional, no pressure... it's bare-as-you-dare!
- Open to all gender expressions, body types and sizes
- A safe space where no cell phone use or body shaming are allowed
- Sex-positive and body-supportive
- NOT gender restricted; the balance winds up being 60/40ish male- and female-identified, the balance shifts based on other events happening and other variables
- NOT a sex-party... period. We are a sex-positive event NOT a sex party. We have floor supervisors who patrol and do our best to make things comfortable to dance and have fun with us.
- NOT exploitative. We do NOT allow cell phone use in the venue to protect the party patrons from paparazzi style behaviour.
